Deadly Iranian Drone Attack on U.S. Troops

Over the weekend, a drone attack from Iranian-backed militants killed three American troops and injured over 30 others. This attack was at a U.S. military outpost located in Jordan near the border of Syria. Most of you may not know this, but since early October, U.S. forces in Iraq, Syria, and Jordan have been attacked ~165 times.

This attack, however, is the deadliest for U.S. forces since October, and our hearts and prayers go out to these service-members and their families.

This attack represents a significant escalation in tensions with Iran. As you know, Iran is one of the world’s largest state-sponsors of terrorism. Every day that regime is trying to figure out how to unleash hell throughout the region while trying to avoid direct conflict with U.S. forces. Many of their terrorist activities have been funneled through proxy groups like Hamas and the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq,” the group claiming responsibility for this weekend’s deadly attack.

Anyway, this is obviously a tense situation. An emboldened Iran is a dangerous thing for the Middle East and the world. The bottom line is that Iran will continue to fund and direct these attacks until such time as the consequences for doing so are severe enough to serve as deterrence.

Sadly, that has not been the case in recent years.
