Congressman Norman Statement on V.C. Summer Plant
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ralph Norman has released the following statement after the announcement by SCANA and Santee Cooper of their intent to pull out of the V.C. Summer plant expansion project in Fairfield County, SC:
“The abandonment of the V.C. Summer plant project blindsided the people of Fairfield County, the thousands of workers who relied on the project for their jobs, and the hundreds of thousands of rate-payers across our state who have been footing the bill.
“The leadership of SCANA and Santee Cooper should be held accountable for the decisions they made that have had such a devastating impact on so many hard-working families. Fairfield’s economy has been crippled.
“I strongly urge Gov. McMaster and South Carolina lawmakers to figure out how this happened, and to provide South Carolinians the answers and solutions we all need.
“I will do everything I possibly can to assist the displaced workers and their families.”
