Prepare for hurricane florence

This email will provide important information for the counties of SC's Fifth District: Cherokee, Chester, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lee, Union, York, Newberry, Spartanburg and Sumter

There have been drastic changes to the projected track of Hurricane Florence. Please pay close attention to the status of the storm. For the most up-to-date weather forecasts check the National Hurricane Center website.

Visit SCEMD's “Know Your Zone” to see your vulnerability to storm surge.

Hurricane Florence brings the potential for major flooding in our district. This is going to be a long storm with significant rainfall into early next week.

***If you live in a low-lying area, you NEED to start making preparations NOW to protect yourself and your family. Have a plan, stay on top of weather updates, and be ready to go in the event an evacuation is necessary.

***If you are home bound, PLEASE contact someone TODAY to ask that they check on you during the next few days.

***If you are physically unable to leave your home, call and ask for help BEFORE THE STORM. Contact:
