Help With A Federal Agency

If you are having difficulties contacting or resolving an issue with a federal agency in a timely fashion, our office may be able to help resolve a problem or get you the information you need.

While we cannot guarantee you a favorable outcome, we will do our best to help you receive a response to your problem.

Important Notice Regarding Casework
Our congressional office will close at the conclusion of the 119th Congress. As the end of the Congress approaches, our ability to accept new casework or pursue matters requiring extended agency processing may become limited. As we approach the end of this congressional term, our office is limiting new casework involving SSA, VA, USCIS, Medicare, and the IRS due to extended agency response times. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue working to resolve existing cases.

We encourage constituents who need assistance with a federal agency to contact our office as soon as possible to discuss their specific situation. Our staff will continue working to assist constituents and resolve existing cases to the fullest extent possible while the office remains open.

Before Submitting a Request
Whenever possible, constituents should first attempt to resolve their matter directly with the appropriate federal agency. If you have already contacted the agency and have been unable to resolve the issue, our office may be able to assist.

Please include all pertinent information and claim numbers in your correspondence, such as:
  • Your address, home phone number, and daytime phone number (if different from your home number) so our staff can contact you if additional information is necessary; and
  • Copies of any related documents, notices, or correspondence you have received from the federal agency involved.
Providing complete information when you submit your request can help our staff review your case and contact the appropriate agency as efficiently as possible.

Expedited Passport Assistance
If you are experiencing an urgent passport issue or are concerned that your passport will not arrive before upcoming international travel, our office may be able to make an inquiry with the U.S. Department of State.

Before contacting our office, please have the following information available:
  • Your scheduled date of international travel;
  • A copy of your travel itinerary or other proof of travel;
  • Your passport application locator number, if you have already applied; and
  • Any correspondence you have received from the U.S. Department of State regarding your application.
Please remember that our office cannot guarantee that a passport will be issued or delivered by a particular date. Passport applications and appointments remain subject to the requirements and availability of the U.S. Department of State.

If your travel is not urgent, we encourage you to use the Department of State’s online resources to check your application status and current passport processing information before requesting congressional assistance.

Please Note: The Privacy Act of 1974 (5 U.S.C. § 552a) requires Members of Congress and their staff to obtain written authorization before requesting information from a federal agency regarding an individual's case.

We must have your signature before we can proceed with this type of request.

After entering the information requested below, you will be provided with the appropriate Privacy Release Form to review, print, and sign. Please make sure all information is complete and accurate before returning the form to our office.
