Our Washington, D.C. office offers internship opportunities throughout the fall, spring, and summer semesters for college students seeking firsthand experience in a congressional setting. These internships provide a unique chance to engage with the legislative process and gain valuable insight into the daily operations of a congressional office.
Internship hours are flexible to accommodate academic schedules. A typical day generally follows congressional activity, with office hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. when Congress is in session and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during recess.
Interns in the D.C. office take on a wide range of responsibilities. These include answering constituent phone calls, performing administrative tasks, leading Capitol tours, conducting research, attending congressional hearings and briefings, and assisting with constituent services.
This hands-on experience offers an excellent opportunity for students to develop professional skills while deepening their understanding of how Congress works and how policy decisions are made.
