Washington, D.C. –  Today, Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) has released the following statement celebrating this last Tax Day under the old tax code:

"After today, hard-working Americans will no longer have to suffer headaches because of an outdated and broken tax code. Next year, taxpayers will enjoy filing taxes with a simpler form.

“Americans have a lot to be excited about because of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Some examples: Since we repealed the Obamacare individual mandate, the IRS no longer requires you to tell them if you have healthcare. All taxpayers will see a doubled standard deduction. Families can enjoy an increased child tax credit to help with cost of raising children. Throughout this next year, 90 percent of Americans will see larger paychecks.

“We are already seeing the successes of this pro-growth, pro-family tax reform. Over 400 companies have given over 4 million Americans more than $4 billion in bonuses and improved benefits. Businesses continue to be encouraged to create more jobs and make investments into our economy.

“Goodbye to the days when taxpayers had to live under a burdensome tax code that did not work for them; and hello to the days of a bright, economic future for all hardworking Americans.”
