A Total Charade

  • lia-thomas

It seems like almost everyone is afraid to talk about this for fear of being suspended by social media. Or fear of being called transphobic. Or fear of someone accusing them of “mis-gendering” a transgender individual.

But we need to be honest about what’s going on here…

This is Lia Thomas, pictured left, who was born a biological male and raised as one. As a collegiate swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, Thomas spent the first three seasons on the men’s swimming team before starting hormone replacement therapy in May 2019, according to Sports Illustrated.

Longing to swim against women instead of men, Thomas sat out the 2019–20 season for NCAA eligibility requirements, and then sat out the 2020–21 season for Covid concerns. Now it’s the 2021–22 season, with Thomas swimming as a transgender woman and competing against women as part of UPenn’s women’s team.

The results are unmistakable. Check this out:

Back in December, competing against women, Thomas absolutely crushed the 200 and 500 freestyle events, posting times that ranked #1 throughout the entire nation. In the 200-freestyle, Thomas was nationally ranked in the mid-500s as a man, but #1 as a woman right before heading into the recent NCAA championships. And during the championships, Thomas cruised to a 1st place victory in the 500 freestyle.

To the people who are praising this… To the commentators who are using phrases like “her authentic self"… To the so-called journalists who are writing puff pieces and “fact checking” articles trying to normalize this:

Do you honestly believe this is fair? We want to be compassionate to everyone of course. But honestly, what’s the point of women’s sports anymore?

Hormone replacement therapy CANNOT level the playing field. It cannot undo many of the athletic characteristics of a biological male body, especially after puberty. This includes skeletal size, lung volume, cardiovascular capacity, tendon strength, muscle power, and hand & feet size, just to name a few. (That’s not my opinion; it is the widely reported medical assessment of numerous experts.)

Of course it’s not fair! ❌ It’s not fair to women’s athletics, which are already at a disadvantage relative to men’s athletics. ❌ It’s not fair to athletes who were born and compete as biological women. ❌ It’s not fair to those displaced from the victory stand because they also don’t possess the athletic characteristics of a biological male. ❌ It’s not fair to women’s athletes who lose scholarship slots because a biological male has taken that slot as a transgender woman. ❌ It’s not fair to the women who hold records that have (or will soon be) broken by a biological male competing as a transgender woman.

This is a total charade. It yet ANOTHER example of the complete absurdity of modern-day liberalism.
