Congressman Norman Statement on the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act
Washington,
September 14, 2017
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) has released the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3354, the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act: "Today, I have voted in favor to pass the Make America Secure and Prosperous Appropriations Act of 2018. For the first time since 2009, the House has passed all 12 appropriations bills on time. This legislation appropriately funds the government and contains numerous conservative victories that promote our Republican agenda. “American safety was the top priority of this bill. We have included pro-life protections, provided funding to strengthen our military so we can defeat ISIS, protected the Second Amendment, increased our border security, invested into our infrastructure and allocated money for important medical research. "This bill also fully funds Displaced Workers Assistance National Reserve, a program which can aid those affected by the V.C. Summer facility layoffs “I am happy to see that my amendment to this bill passed so that more money can be given to combat the opioid epidemic that is sweeping this nation. “I thank the Appropriations Committee for all the hard work they have done with this bill so that we were able to get this job done on time.” |
