House Passes Reps. Norman/Chu Small Business Bill

Washington, D.C. –  H.R. 116, the Investing in Main Street Act, introduced by Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) and Congresswoman Judy Chu (CA- 27), passed the House of Representatives 402 – 2 yesterday. This bipartisan legislation creates a simple improvement to the Small Business Investment Act, which would encourage more investment in American small businesses through the Small Business Investment Companies (SBIC) program.

Congressman Norman has released the following statement:

“H.R. 116 makes much-needed changes to the SBIC program, thereby helping domestic small businesses. In fact, some companies in the 5th District have benefitted from the SBIC program in growing their new business when they started and I look forward to seeing more.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we must help them in every way possible. I am happy to work on behalf of the small businesses in my district and across the nation, because with a growing economy, now is the time to continue investments in these companies.”
