Eighty-one years ago today, 160,000 Allied troops launched the largest seaborne invasion in history. Their mission: land on the beaches of Normandy, France, and begin the push to liberate Europe from Nazi control.

The courage and sacrifice shown on D-Day changed the tides of World War II—and the course of history. Let us never forget the price paid, and may we live each day in gratitude to those who laid down their lives so we could live ours in peace.
