Congressman Norman Applauds HHS Secretary Azay for Exempting South Carolina Foster Agencies from Misguided Obama-Era Regulations

Yesterday, Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) sent a letter to the Health and Human Services Secretary Azar applauding him for the decision to exempt Miracle Hill Ministries and other faith-based South Carolina foster agencies from misguided Obama-era regulations.  In a strong showing of support, this letter was co-signed by 63 other representatives in the House plus nine U.S. senators, including all Republicans from South Carolina.

Congressman Norman released the following statement:

"I am proud to be joined by 72 Members of Congress, both in the House and Senate, in thanking Secretary Azar and the Trump Administration for safeguarding religious liberties. At the request of SC Governor McMaster, HHS granted Miracle Hill Ministries and the SC Foster Care system an exemption from overburdensome Obama-era regulations. This decision will allow Miracle Hill Ministries to continue playing a vital role in serving one of the state’s most vulnerable populations.

"Ultimately, we would like to see this Obama regulation rescinded, so that faith-based foster care providers are not placed in danger of losing funding. Until that happens, I hope that HHS will continue making positive decisions like this one, and grant exemptions to protect religious liberties.

"I will keep up the good fight here in Washington and continue to thank the Administration for its tireless efforts to defend our constitutional rights."
