Rep. Ralph Norman Votes Against Partisan NDAA
Washington,
July 12, 2019
Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-5) released the following statement after voting against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).
"The House's version of the NDAA fails to provide the requisite funding that the Pentagon needs to defend our nation. It fails to prohibit terrorists detained at Gitmo from being transferred to U.S. soil. It ties the President's hands when it comes to the protection of our southern borders. And it does not adequately fund our nuclear arsenal, particularly the low-yield nuclear weapons that are arguably more of a strategic threat to our enemies than their high-yield counterparts. "As the Senate proved was possible, there was perhaps no better opportunity for Democrats and Republicans to come together for the good of our nation than with the NDAA. Unfortunately, that did not happen this year in the Democrat-controlled House. What passed this afternoon was not in our nation’s best interest." ### |
