President Trump Relocating Eddie Gallagher

Yesterday, I spoke with President Donald J. Trump by phone about U.S. Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher. It was a good conversation, and I appreciate the President being willing to reach out on this important issue. I'm pleased to report (as you may have already heard) that the President has decided to relocate Chief Gallagher to a less restrictive facility while awaiting his day in court. This is great news! As I've said from the start, I believe Chief Gallagher will soon have a fair and impartial trial. But unless & until proven otherwise, he should be treated as a decorated soldier who still has the presumption of innocence. To be clear, this was not an individual effort by any stretch of the imagination. There were more than 40 Members of Congress who stood alongside the Gallagher family, including Congressman Duncan Hunter, Congressman Dan Crenshaw and so many others. Collectively, we thank President #Trump for his leadership on this issue. |
