If you've been following the news of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, then you know we had *huge* win last weekend when the President ordered him moved to less restrictive confinement while awaiting his trial.
I realize there is a process involved in transitioning Chief Gallagher to more appropriate accommodations. I've been in contact with his family and have also heard from Navy officials. And I'll continue to monitor his situation very closely in the coming days and weeks.
To reiterate, I'm confident Chief Gallagher will soon have a fair trial. In the meantime, he deserves to be treated like the decorated SEAL he is, who bravely served our nation during eight tours of duty. I am grateful for the President's phone call last week, his decision to relocate Chief Gallagher, and 41 of my colleagues in Congress who helped with this endeavor.
