Special Olympics

Many of you know one of my daughters is a very talented Special Education teacher. And through her eyes, I see just how wonderful and amazing these children truly are. One of the great organizations that helps these children and young adults is the Special Olympics. It offers more than 30 Olympic-style sports for those with intellectual disabilities. It's a charity that I personally support, and it's an honor to participate in the #PolarPlunge each year to help raise money for their efforts. In their work, the Special Olympics also provides many beneficial school programs across the nation, with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Education. And despite recent news, I was glad to hear this funding will continue. As many on both sides of the aisle agree, the value that the #SpecialOlympics brings to our communities simply cannot be replaced. |
