This week in Honor of National PoliceWeek, my Washington, D.C. office hosted a drop-in for all of the officers and their families who are visiting from the 5th district. Thank you to all the folks from Florence, Clover, Rock Hill, and York who came by to meet with me and my staff, hear a legislative update regarding my FirstResponders Bill, and share memories of our fallen and injured heroes. This was a somber event. Last year, law enforcement in our district and state suffered incredible tragedies. We met with Sergeant Buddy Brown, who was seriously injured last year in the cowardly attack that took the life of Detective Mike Doty. And we also reflected with officers from Florence, where seven of their finest were shot last October. Among them, Sergeant Terrence Carraway, who paid the ultimate sacrifice. To all of these officers, will never forget your courage, bravery, and sacrifice. |
