Still confused about why the government is shut down? Let me give you the FACTS.

On September 19th, all but two House Republicans voted for a clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution (CR), which spends within fiscal limits and protects essential services. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are refusing to compromise, demanding to change Medicaid rules to allow taxpayer money to go to free health care for people in the country illegally, spend $500 million to prop up radical public news outlets, and add $1.5 trillion in new spending tied to a leftover COVID-era healthcare policy that has nothing to do with funding the government. That’s not going to happen.

And here’s what they don’t want you to know… this is the SAME funding extension that Democrats supported in March of this year and 13 times under President Biden.

My Freedom Caucus colleagues and I have NEVER voted to shut down the government over demands to INCREASE spending and EXPAND wasteful healthcare programs for individuals who are not lawfully in this country. We have consistently stood for American taxpayers FIRST.

According to the New York Times/Siena Poll, 65% of Americans say Democrats should NOT have shut down the government over partisan demands.

Bottom line is Washington should be working for YOU, not bending over backwards to fund pet projects, media allies, and illegal benefit schemes. American voters are tired of seeing their hard-earned dollars wasted. If the Senate wants a shutdown to force more spending and more perks for people here illegally, they’ll have to look the American people in the eye and own that.
