Today, I introduced a resolution to censure Delegate Stacey Plaskett and remove her from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence following deeply troubling revelations about her documented coordination with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during official congressional business.
Documents released from Epstein’s estate detail how Delegate Plaskett consulted with Epstein, a man convicted of exploiting children, to shape her line of questioning in the 2019 House Oversight and Government Reform hearing involving Michael Cohen.
This behavior is a severe breach of ethics, a violation of public trust, and wholly incompatible with the responsibilities of a Member of Congress, let alone someone serving on the House Intelligence Committee.
Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes shocked the nation. For any Member of Congress to seek his input in the conduct of official proceedings and then position themselves publicly as champions of justice and accountability is the height of hypocrisy.
My resolution will censure Delegate Plaskett for her inappropriate communications and relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, condemn her use of Epstein’s input during an official congressional hearing, remove her from the House Intelligence Committee, and direct the House Ethics Committee to launch a full investigation into the extent of her ties to Epstein.
Congress has a responsibility to uphold the dignity of this institution. The American people rightly expect integrity from their elected officials. This resolution reflects our obligation to protect that trust and ensure accountability where it is so clearly warranted.
