WASHINGTON — Congressman Ralph Norman (R-SC) introduced the Worst of the Worst (WOW) Act, legislation requiring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to establish and maintain a publicly accessible database of criminal illegal aliens released from ICE custody into American communities.

The bill would require ICE to publish key identification information for individuals released from custody who have prior convictions for violent crimes, sexual offenses, weapons offenses, drug trafficking offenses, crimes against children, or gang-related enhancements.

The database would include:

• Photograph
• Name
• General physical description, including height and weight
• City of release
• Date of release
• General category of qualifying conviction

The database would also be searchable by both city and name.

“Americans have a right to know when violent criminals are being released into their communities,” said Congressman Norman. “For too long, weak judges and reckless immigration policies have put public safety at risk while leaving citizens in the dark. Families and local law enforcement deserve transparency and accountability in their communities when it comes to dangerous criminals.”

The Department of Homeland Security has already shown the importance of public transparency through efforts such as the Aliens.gov initiative, exposing some of the most violent illegal aliens arrested by ICE and CBP.

The legislation comes amid ongoing efforts to reverse the Biden administration’s release of criminal illegal aliens into communities across the country despite prior convictions for serious offenses.
