Congratulations to Bethel Elementary School Teacher Patricia Smith

Outstanding news from Washington earlier today. I want to congratulate Patricia Smith, who is a teacher at Bethel Elementary School in the Clover School District.

The highest award given by the U.S. Government to K-12 math and science teachers is known as the "Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching." This morning, the White House announced that Ms. Smith was one of the recipients of this year's award.

It's is an extraordinary accomplishment, and is based on her excellence in the classroom and dedication to STEM education. Nominees are rigorously evaluated by a distinguished panel of experts in math, science, and education. That panel makes recommendations to the White House, but even then, only the best of the best receive this award.

If you live in the Clover area, this is probably not the first time you've heard good things about Ms. Smith. Something tells me it won’t be the last. Thank you, Ms. Smith!
