Assaults on Our Law Enforcement Officers

Every American has a right to demand answers. To demand a renewed dialogue. To demand change where appropriate. And FOR SURE to demand justice in the horrific death of George Floyd. But those demands will quickly be lost in the chaos if they’re made by assaulting our law enforcement officers and destroying property. This disgusting image is just one of many from South Carolina over the weekend. Throughout the nation, hundreds of officers have been injured during the last few days, which is completely intolerable. There are 800,000 sworn law enforcement officers in the U.S., and I don’t believe what (former) Officer Chauvin did represents any of the others who serve with honor and integrity. I HATE what happened to Mr. Floyd – we all do. We can demand all the things I listed above, but we cannot accept violence against the rest of the men and women who would lay down their lives to protect any one of us. They deserve better, and they WILL have my respect and support. |
