Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) honors Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Since Congressman Norman has taken office he has co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation supporting the men and women in law enforcement. Some of those include:
H.R. 2228, the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act which provides support for law enforcement agency efforts to protect mental health and well-being of law enforcement officers (Passed the House)
H.R. 964, the Law Enforcement Equity Act which grants federal employee status for law enforcement, giving more benefits for law enforcement
H.R. 2513, the Police Officers Protecting Children Act allows retired officers – and those with a concealed carry permit – to be allowed to be on school grounds with their weapon to protect students
H.R. 613, the Lieutenant Osvaldo Albarati Correctional Officer Self-Protection Act allows correctional officers to be able to carry off premises with a Concealed Weapons Permit
H.R. 115, the Thin Blue Line Act makes it a death penalty if you kill, or try to kill, a law enforcement officer (Passed the House)
