Rep. Norman Issues Statement on President Biden's Executive Orders

Rep. Ralph Norman (SC-5) issued the following statement on the executive orders issued by President Biden on Wednesday:

"In the weeks leading up to President Joe Biden's inauguration, the Democrat party has preached about the importance of moving forward. Yet, on the President's first day in office, he is choosing to undo a large part of the progress made by the previous administration.

"Specifically, President Biden will lay the cost of illegal immigration at the feet of the American taxpayers by fortifying the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). America's immigration system needs legislative reform in Congress and judicial review in the courts, not sweeping changes made with the stroke of a pen.

"Furthermore, he seeks to eliminate more than 11,000 jobs by signing an Executive Order shutting down construction on the Keystone XL pipeline. Canceling a 1,200-mile pipeline like this will have crippling effects on a multibillion-dollar industry.

"President Biden should reconsider such unilateral political power plays.  Increasing the burden on our immigration system and taking jobs from the America people does not represent a productive start to his administration."
