On Wednesday, Rep. Ralph Norman (SC-5) will vote against H. Res 503, titled "Establishing the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol." He issued the following statement in advance of that vote:

"Since 2016, the #1 objective of Nancy Pelosi and congressional Democrats has been the demonization of President Trump. This is nothing more than a continuation of that effort. Let’s remember that Democrats in Congress have made no such demands for an equivalent commission to examine the horrific riots across dozens of cities throughout the past year, which have destroyed countless lives and livelihoods.

"Those who participated in the January 6^th riots at the U.S. Capital are criminals, and I hope & trust that the numerous investigations that are already underway will ultimately bring those responsible to justice.  But it is both disingenuous and insincere to assert that this commission will be anything other than a politically motivated exercise with a pre-determined outcome."
