As loudly as I can say this, NO!! The Internal Revenue Service should NOT be allowed to snoop on your bank account activity!
This week, we’re learning more about yet another awful Democrat proposal. This one would force your bank to send information about your financial transactions to the IRS. Democrats want the government to look through your bank account, searching for transactions it believes may be subject to taxation… which perhaps you didn’t report.
And then what??
For example, if someone has regular non-payroll deposits, will that increase their likelihood of an audit? If someone has regular cash transactions, is the IRS going to harass them for receipts? If someone has digital currency transactions, will that invite unwarranted scrutiny from government authorities?
I know Republicans see this proposal for what it is, but for the benefit of my friends on the left:
This is the assumption of guilt instead of the presumption of innocence. It is un-American. It’s saying, “Someone must be guilty of something, so let’s snoop on everyone.” It’s more government power with virtually no guardrails. And it’s a gateway to all sorts of abuse.
I will fight this proposal at every possible turn.
