Yesterday, Democrats in the House and Senate approved another massive increase to our federal debt limit. They voted to raise the debt limit another $2.5 trillion, likely enough to cover federal borrowing through the 2022 elections.

This is no way to run our country.

We’re $29 trillion in debt, yet there’s no desire in Congress to get our fiscal House in order. Many Republicans have contributed to this problem in years past, to be sure, but Democrats are in TOTAL control right now of both chambers of Congress and the White House. The massive amount of government spending recently is 100% on them.

The latest example is their wildly inappropriate “Build Back Broke” plan that’ll spend trillions of dollars on social welfare and domestic programs. That’ll be above & beyond what it already costs to operate the federal government, will add over $3 trillion more to our national debt in the years to come, and will jack up inflation already worse that it is.

For whatever reason, some believe in a nanny state socialist government. It’s program after program. Department after department. Agency after agency. It’s a few hundred billion here, and a few hundred billion there. And to propose any cuts in spending might as well be blasphemy. It has to stop!

I’m heading back to South Carolina this morning after voting AGAINST raising the debt limit late last night in the House. Congress doesn’t have a revenue problem; it has a spending problem. We must be committed to reducing spending, balancing our budget, and paying down this obnoxious debt!

Anything short of that will NOT have my support.
