Everyone needs to understand just how joined at the hip this administration is with the mainstream media. Here’s another prime example:

By now, you may have heard about crack pipes being paid for with tax dollars. This story broke on Monday and within hours, the liberal mainstream media was working overtime to discredit the report and protect the Biden administration. So let’s dive into some details…

Every year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) issues a wide variety of grants. (I’d argue many of those grants are an inappropriate use of tax dollars, but that’s a conversation for another day.) One of their recent grants will direct up to $29 million over three years to “support community-based overdose prevention programs.”

That sounds pretty good, right?

Well, a reporter from the Washington Free Beacon was looking through the details of this grant, which I’ll post in the comments below so you can see for yourself. Some of the items in here seem legitimate, like overdose reversal medication which, unfortunately, our first responders are having to use all too often these days.

However, something in this grant’s paperwork caught the reporter’s attention. It called for the purchase of “safe smoking kits/supplies.” What does that mean?! What’s in a safe smoking kit?

The reporter didn’t know, so he asked HHS for clarification and, according to his report, was told “these kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and ‘any illicit substance.’”

PIPES… for users to smoke crack and crystal meth. Paid for with your money.

Obviously that’s major news, and was reported as such. Immediately the White House and HHS went into full-blown crisis mode, trying to walk back that stunning admission. Biden’s press secretary would soon tell reporters those kits won’t contain pipes, but instead “may contain alcohol swabs, lip balm, other materials to promote hygiene and reduce the transmission of diseases.”

Riiiiightt. 👌

In submissive obedience, outlets like the Washington Post, ABC News, Snopes, and others started circling the wagons to protect the administration. The initial statement from HHS was completely ignored, and instead their reports were essentially, “It’s just lip balm, cleaning swabs, what’s the big deal? See how those evil Republicans are trying to make something out of nothing? How dare they.”

It’s the way the liberal mainstream media works.

Consider this: elsewhere in the documentation, the grant funds “syringes to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.” Clearly the grant funds paraphernalia for illegal drugs that are INJECTED. So are we honestly to believe the intent wasn’t also to provide paraphernalia for illegal drugs that are SMOKED?

Of course that was the intent!

It was never about Chapstick. Instead, someone at HHS thought distributing clean drug paraphernalia would help “promote hygiene and reduce the transmission of diseases” but didn’t think through the optics of that… at all. This embarrassed the Biden administration tremendously. So they tried to downplay and recharacterize the situation. and most of the liberal media happily reported their “revised” version as fact.

A Republican administration would have never received this kind of kid glove treatment from the media. No administration should.
