We received so many fantastic submissions from schools across our district for the 2022 Congressional Art Competition that this year was especially difficult to narrow down for our judges!
Jim Shore, Michael Simpson, and additional artists native to South Carolina’s 5th Congressional district made up the panel of judges who chose our winners. I am so pleased to announce the 2022 Congressional Art Competition winner is Haley Horner from Fort Mill High School and her Visual Arts Teacher, Ms. Lucarelli, for Haley’s colored pencil still life piece titled “Music Box.” Haley’s piece will hang in the halls of the Capitol building in D.C. for the next year!
Second place is Victoria Geyling from Catawba Ridge High School and her Visual Arts Teacher, Ms. Quinn, for her Acrylic painting titled “Frustrated Form.”
Congratulations Haley and Victoria!
SC 5 is very lucky to have such talented young artists call this district home. All who participated should be extremely proud of their work and bravery for putting their art out there!
