SMALL VICTORY yesterday as the Biden Administration hit the pause button on this foolish idea of a “Disinformation Governance Board.”  This, after a ~ton~ of justly received criticism and humiliation.

I want everyone to understand what we just witnessed…

Someone in the Biden White House – probably a low-level bureaucrat – thought this was an appropriate function of government and a good idea. And then somehow, that idea worked its way up the food chain over there.

Someone had to come up with that name.  Someone decided to tap an unbelievably awkward & hypocritical pick to head this board.  Someone chose to place it within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) of all agencies.  Someone thought a congressional hearing where the DHS Secretary was being grilled would be a good opportunity to roll out the announcement.  On and on…

Person after person, level after level – probably all the way to the President himself. Did nobody in the White House stop and ask, “Guys, what are we doing here?!”

Don’t get me wrong: I’m glad this effort has been suspended. But it’s alarming this ever saw the light of day.
