Another Great Sound Title

It’s all smoke & mirrors. We’re shown this massive piece of legislation with a great sounding title, and you’re told the bill does what the title says. Only it’s a COMPLETE LIE! We see this over and over again in Congress, and I’m tired of it!

The Democrats’ “Inflation Reduction Act” is just the latest example – I covered this in a previous post a couple of days ago. This will spend $700 billion on Green New Deal nonsense, ineffective climate programs, and even more subsidies for Obamacare as Democrats continue their march towards a full government takeover of your healthcare.

Here’s how this has played out over in the Senate:

Like I mentioned earlier, this is a modified version of their failed Build Back Broke bill. It’s been rebranded with a great new title – in this case the “Inflation Reduction Act.” After all, who could be opposed to reducing Biden’s inflation crisis?

This was negotiated in secret, without Republican input. When a deal had been reached between Senators Joe Manchin and Chuck Schumer, they quickly jumped in front of microphones to claim things that are simply not true, like the bill will reduce inflation and will not raise taxes on individuals earning less than $400K/year. And they make these claims before the legislation had even been examined & scored by experts.

Meanwhile, the liberal media runs with the talking points they’ve been handed by Democrats, dutifully reporting to the American people that a “historic” deal has been reached, and repeating the same claims about not raising taxes and not exacerbating inflation.

After the noise settles down, only then do we start to get a picture of what the legislation would actually do. And that’s where we find ourselves today with this so-called “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Enter the Joint Committee on Taxation, which is a nonpartisan group of Ph.D. economists, attorneys, and accountants who study bills like this to help Members of Congress understand the actual impact if such legislation were passed.

So the Joint Committee on Taxation worked over the weekend to examine this legislation and, to nobody’s surprise, determined it will actually RAISE taxes on just about every income bracket. In other words, you were lied to about this bill not raising taxes for people earning less than $400K annually. Everyone will be affected by this.
They also claimed pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into the economy for climate programs – at a time when we’re already $30 trillion in debt with inflation at 9.1% – could somehow reduce inflation. Hence the title, “Inflation Reduction Act.”

Well guess what? The Joint Committee on Taxation also found that to be a lie as well. In fact, they concluded this bill would actually INCREASE inflation for the next two years before its effects settle back down, long after Bidenflation is (hopefully) back under control. This bill was framed as something that would help reduce inflation quickly, not years from now if we’re still in this mess. It’s all so disingenuous.

Here's what else is going to happen:

When this bill comes up for a vote in the House and I’m first in line to vote NO, the news will report “Ralph Norman votes against bill to reduce inflation.” It's laughable, but at least you'll know the truth.  We are truly underserved by the overwhelming majority of so-called journalists these days.
