Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ralph Norman (SC-05) introduced a bill today as part of his #WastefulWednesday initiative that would prohibit the Department Health and Human Services (HHS) from using taxpayer dollars to fund video contests.
Congressman Norman has released the following statement:
"In the past, HHS awarded a $106,000 grant for a YouTube video contest about healthy eating. With a national debt of $21 trillion, it is #wasteful and irresponsible for HHS to use any taxpayer dollars on YouTube competitions. Developing and maintaining healthy eating habits is important, and there are more effective ways for HHS to spend its money in order to better the health of every day Americans. This is just downright, say it with me, #wasteful.”
