Victory for Republicans

What a RESOUNDING victory last night for Republicans up and down the ballot.

Let's start with President Trump's decisive win!!

It didn't take long for the liberal mainstream media to blame Kamala Harris' loss on misogyny and racism. The truth, however, is she was unable to articulate ANYTHING that would help America recover from the policies she supported and endorsed as VP, which have given us crippling inflation, horrible foreign policy, and rampant illegal immigration over the last four years.

She was entirely unfit to serve as President based on her record.

The postmortem on Kamala Harris's campaign will be lengthy, but the bottom line is that the better candidate won, thank GOD.

Moving on. As I write this, the balance of power in the House of Representatives is still up in the air. My hope is that Republicans can maintain the majority in the House. Otherwise, you can expect Democrats in control to be focused on two (and only two) things: obstruction and impeaching Donald Trump for every breath he takes. The only way the House of Representatives is a productive body over the next two years is if Republicans can maintain control.

The other HUGE news this morning is a Republican takeover of the Senate! This is great, but it's important to have realistic expectations about the Senate...

For many types of legislation, one senator can generally filibuster that effort. It takes 60 senators to shut down a filibuster, but Republicans will only have a small majority of 52. This means liberals are still going to have a powerful voice in the Senate, and will almost certainly use the filibuster to stonewall as many Republican bills as they can.

So, when you look at conservative efforts in Congress over the next two years, it's important to consider how many of those bills were obstructed by Democrats in the Senate because of the filibuster.

However, certain things in the Senate cannot be filibuster. This includes budget reconciliation, confirmation of President Trump's cabinet, and confirmation of judicial nominees. That's a good thing.

** Wouldn't it be great if President Trump were able to appoint a few more conservative Supreme Court justices, like Amy Coney Barrett, over the next four years?

The next 12 to 18 months will be critical for President Trump and Congressional Republicans to fix the damage done to our nation under the Biden/Harris administration. As for me, I'll continue to bring conservative, South Carolina values to Washington, and I appreciate the honor of representing you in Congress.

2025 is going to be an exciting year, and I can't wait to get moving!!
