Today, the House passed the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, which I am gladly a cosponsor of. If this bill gets signed into law, it will protect American citizens, specifically women and children, against the very-real-threat posed by violent illegal immigrants.
Specifically, this legislation creates grounds for inadmissibility and removability for illegal immigrants convicted of sexual exploitation and/or violent crimes. It also closes a loophole in immigration law by adding inadmissibility for specific domestic violence-related offenses.
American citizens deserve to feel safe in their communities. House Republicans have shown that we stand with our daughters, nieces, granddaughters, and sisters. I ask why on God's green earth would 145 of my colleagues across the aisle not do the same?
