Big congratulations to SC-05’s very own Dr. Britt Blackwell for his new role as an at-large Commissioner with SCDOT!

If you know Dr. Blackwell, you know he’s no stranger to stepping up for his community. From serving on the Rock Hill School Board and State Board of Education to leading the York County Council for eight years, he’s always been about getting things done. His efforts played a big role in launching the I-77 Alliance, helping bring jobs and economic growth to our state.

Now, when it comes to roads, South Carolina has made some good progress paving over 7,000 miles in recent years and tackling some major bridge projects. But let’s be real, we’ve still got plenty of work ahead. About 30% of our roads are in rough shape, and traffic in some areas can be downright frustrating.

That’s where leaders like Dr. Blackwell come in.

So here’s to you, Dr. Blackwell— we know you’re going to make a real difference!!
