Field Hearing in Charlotte Highlights the Human Cost of Failed Crime Policies

Last week in Charlotte, the House Judiciary Subcommittee held a field hearing that was both powerful and heartbreaking. Families shared stories of loved ones lost — lives taken by criminals who should’ve never been on the streets.

We remembered Iryna Zarutska, a young refugee murdered on a Charlotte light rail. And Logan Federico, just 22, visiting friends in South Carolina, killed by a repeat offender.

These tragedies are preventable. But only if we stop coddling criminals and start enforcing the law. Weak on crime policies have failed, and innocent people are paying the price.

We need real accountability. Tough-on-crime policies. And to put public safety first.

May God comfort these families who have lost loved ones.
