U.S. Army Colonel Scott Sanford

Washington, D.C., September 10, 2019

I was honored to participate in yesterday’s ceremony promoting Lieutenant Colonel Scott Sanford to the rank of Colonel. At 44 years old, he has served the U.S. Army in multiple deployments throughout the world, including Germany, Albania, Iraq, and India, as well as numerous assignments stateside.

Throughout his career, Colonel Sanford has earned multiple decorations and awards for his service including the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Parachutist Badge, and the Combat Action Badge. He is married to Rock Hill native Katheryn Sanford Moore, and together they are the proud parents of three incredible sons.

*** Later this month Colonel Sanford is scheduled to be deployed to Pakistan, and must leave his wife and sons behind. It’s an incredible sacrifice that so many of those who serve are called to make. And one that those of us back home should never forget.

Colonel Sanford, thank you for your service, and may God continue to look over you and your family while you’re away.
