This week, Democrats in Congress voted AGAINST funding the Department of Homeland Security, and these effects are far-reaching.
First, thousands of critical public servants would go without pay. That includes the men and women of ICE, TSA, FEMA, CISA, Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Coast Guard, and many others who work every day to keep our nation safe. When Washington fails to fund these agencies, it damages morale, weakens recruitment, and makes it harder to retain the dedicated professionals who protect our communities.
Second, many operations across the country would face a series of delays and disruptions. Border security, immigration enforcement, disaster response efforts, and cybersecurity protections would all be strained. These are not optional responsibilities. They are core functions of government that Americans depend on every single day and VOTED FOR.
Third, TSA officers would be required to work without pay. That means longer airport security lines, delayed flights, and growing frustration for travelers across the country. Our transportation security system works because of the people who show up every day to do the job. Washington should show up for them, too.
Fourth, many non-essential DHS programs would pause, including planning, training, and infrastructure protection efforts that help prevent crises before they happen.
Leaving the Department of Homeland Security unfunded puts Americans at risk and undermines national security.
No cathedral can stand on one pillar alone — it requires them all. The same is true for homeland security. FEMA, ICE, CBP, TSA, CISA, and every agency within DHS form the foundation that protects this country. When that foundation is weakened, the entire structure is put at risk.
This is all while DHS has successfully overseen the removal of over 3 million illegal aliens, cracked down on crime, and worked aggressively on behalf of the American people.
The consequences would reach millions of Americans — from families traveling through our airports, to communities recovering from disasters, to citizens who depend on a secure border and strong cybersecurity defenses.
FUND DHS!!
