ENDING automatic pay raises in Congress

I am proud to introduce H.R. 7628, legislation that puts an END to automatic pay raises for Members of Congress once and for all. It is ridiculous to presume members of Congress should receive arbitrary salary boosts regardless of the results they deliver in Congress. Frankly, it's unacceptable.
At this moment, we’re in the midst of a partial government shutdown where Democrats refuse to fund our law enforcement. Yet, these same lawmakers would readily accept salary boosts while our brave men and women in blue go without pay. It’s out of touch with reality.
During the State of the Union yesterday, President Trump spoke at length about his administration’s relentless work to deliver transparency and accountability. He’s EXACTLY right. We all deserve to know how our tax dollars are being spent, including the salaries of those elected to public office.
My bill ensures that any future pay raises are voted on PUBLICLY and are accessible to taxpayers, constituents, and the hardworking Americans footing the bill. No more backdoor increases and automatic adjustments. Just straightforward, honest governance!!
