White House Christmas Decorations

This is THE perfect post to take us into Christmas week. And it involves a great constituent from right here in our congressional district.

Decorating the White House each year for Christmas is a major undertaking, performed mostly by volunteers from around the country who are masters at their craft. When the White House calls and invites you to Washington to help decorate, that’s an incredible honor.

I’m so proud of our own Julie Walters from Lancaster, who was one of a small number of people selected to decorate the White House this year. Below, you'll find a link to my Facebook page with photos of her work throughout the White House, including the Green Room, East Colonnade Hallway, Red Room, and China Room. She also helped decorate a few other areas that are off-limits to cameras like the Oval Office.

Back home in South Carolina, Julie is the Executive Director of the Women’s Enrichment Center, which is a non-profit organization that provides assistance, care, support, and counseling to young women and their families facing an unplanned pregnancy. To help finance that operation, Julie runs a boutique in Lancaster that donates all of its profits to the Women’s Enrichment Center.

She’s truly a remarkable, talented person. Thank you, Julie! And great work at the White House!
