With Breathtaking Speed

With President Biden’s decision to retreat from Afghanistan, the Taliban regime has taken over that nation with breathtaking speed. Some people believe it was time for the U.S. to leave Afghanistan. Others believe that having a U.S. military presence in that nation served as a stabilizing force for the region and helped prevent terrorism around the globe. Regardless of which side you fall on, it is simply not possible to argue that President Biden’s timeline, planning, and execution of this withdrawal is ANYTHING other than an unmitigated disaster. The world can do nothing but watch now as thousands face certain slaughter. Women and girls will return to having virtually no rights. And Afghanistan is certain to become one of the world’s leading exporters of terrorism. |
