Another Major Milestone for My Veterans Health Initiative Bill

Another major milestone reached! Let me first take you back to earlier this year… For our veterans, I re-introduced a bill in January that would use supercomputers and data scientists at the Dept. of Energy to analyze massive amounts of healthcare data from the Veterans Health Administration. We know there are trends and patterns in this data which “machine learning” can identify that would help doctors better care for our veterans. We also know the Dept. of Energy has the expertise and technology for that type of analysis, so my legislation would make this partnership a reality. The last milestone was back in July when my bill passed the House of Representatives. Since then it’s been over in the Senate, and I’m thrilled to announce that yesterday the Senate’s Energy & Natural Resources Committee voted to include this bill as part of a larger package to come early next year. This is great news to wrap up an otherwise crazy week in Washington! |
