I flew back to D.C. yesterday after getting a firsthand look at the new crisis along our southern border. It’s bad. In fact, it’s incomprehensible.
 

We met with border patrol agents who are now overworked, overwhelmed, and stretched dangerously thin. On top of patrolling hundreds of miles of the border, they’re also doubling as daycare workers for record numbers of unaccompanied children whose parents have sent them illegally across our border. Not to mention their social work and detention facility duties. It’s unreal what they’re having to endure.

 
We met with farmers and ranchers along the border whose lives and livelihoods are in constant danger. They face threats, intimidation, and even physical violence from criminal cartels who freely traverse their land for drug and human trafficking. These ranchers and farmers are virtually powerless to protect their families and properties, and they cannot understand why President Biden and Congressional Democrats have completely reversed course on Trump’s effort to secure our border.

 
We toured sections of the border wall where Mr. Biden has order construction to stop. We’re talking about millions of dollars in steel walls that have already been paid for, and already been delivered. But instead of being installed, they’ve just been stacked uselessly on the ground.

 
This was an incredibly alarming trip. I was asked yesterday what the “end game” is here? In other words, what’s the unspoken objective of Mr. Biden and Congressional Democrats? The answer is quite simple, and quite obvious:

They’re ignoring the mass influx of illegal immigrants because they want them here. As many as there can be. Once incalculable numbers of illegal immigrants are in the country, Democrats will say amnesty is “the only humane solution.” Amnesty will pave the road for permanent resident status. (You think I’m joking? See H.R. 1177 – it’s already been proposed.) From there, once a permanent resident with a green card has been here for at least five years, existing law already provides the pathway to citizenship. And then that leads to...

 
Tens of millions of new Democrat voters. That’s the end game. That’s their objective.

 
If it weren’t, then Mr. Biden wouldn’t have stopped construction of the border wall. He wouldn’t have reinstated Obama’s “catch & release” program. He wouldn’t have canceled the policy requiring asylum seekers to remain in Mexico until their hearing in U.S. immigration court. The list goes on.

 
They’re ignoring the consequences of their open border policies. They’re ignoring the humanitarian crisis it’s caused. They’re ignoring drug cartels, human trafficking, and other crimes. This is about political power for them – everything else be damned.
