UPDATE for small business owners, independent contractors, sole proprietors, and the self-employed: We've all been eagerly awaiting the Interim Final Rules from the SBA on the new Paycheck Protection Program. (See this page for an overview of this program.) *** Just a little while ago, the SBA released that document, which can be found through the link below. The window to apply for the Paycheck Protection Program opens this Friday (April 3rd) for small businesses and sole proprietors. Next Friday (April 10th) is when independent contractors and self-employed can begin to apply. This goes without saying, but you should consult with your financial and tax advisers to see if this program is right for your situation. Also remember that processing delays are likely, as SBA-approved lenders work to learn this new program and handle what's expected to be a large volume of applications. |
