Dreamlifters Helping MUSC

  • Rep. Norman at Boeing in Charleston

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) has two very important hospitals in our congressional district: Lancaster Medical Center and Chester Medical Center.

Yesterday I was in Charleston to greet three massive Boeing Dreamlifters that arrived with over 150,000 protective eye goggles and face shields. This personal protective equipment is now on its way to facilities within the MUSC system, including our hospitals in Chester and Lancaster.

The cost of this airlift was donated by Boeing, and it reminds me of countless businesses in our state that are doing what they can to help during this pandemic. I’m talking about truckers who are hauling critical loads at-cost. Numerous small businesses that have re-tooled to manufacture medical equipment. Restaurants providing free meals to first responders and healthcare workers. Chemical and food companies that are now churning out hand sanitizers and disinfectants. The list goes on and on.

While many of these South Carolina businesses are just a fraction the size of Boeing, their contributions are all so incredible.
