Unpublished Data?

*** UPDATED 7/30/2021 10:30 PM ***

The CDC finally released the data referenced below on Friday afternoon. A link to those findings can be found here:

I'll reiterate, the CDC owed us this data, and this should have been released as part of their revised guidance. I don't believe there was malicious intention on the part of the CDC by initially withholding this, but as I stated below, other experts need to weigh in on this data from the standpoint of healthcare, our economy, social impacts, children & education, etc.

“Unpublished Data.” That’s the *exact* phrase the CDC used to source their evidence supporting this week’s declaration that fully vaccinated people should go back to wearing masks again.

Unpublished data?! Is that what they’re using to create guidelines these days?! The CDC is the preeminent agency for the federal government on COVID response. Their recommendations have profound ripple effects across our nation. From state & local governments all the way to your local school board, most every policy through the peak of COVID has relied – either directly or indirectly – on what the CDC said.

So when the CDC reversed their long-held guidance, saying now that fully vaccinated people should resume wearing masks “in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission” and other places, you’d expect that to be accompanied by some peer-reviewed research or other legitimate data, right?

Nope. Instead, their basis for this proclamation was simply “unpublished data.” In other words, information they’re currently unable (or unwilling) to share with the masses.

I’m sorry, but this is unacceptable! Was this “unpublished data” peer-reviewed? Was it a significant sample size? Was it looking at vaccinations used here in the U.S.?

I’m not claiming there’s a conspiracy here, but other experts need to weigh in on this data from the standpoint of healthcare, our economy, social impacts, children & education, etc. For the CDC to make this type of shift, THEY OWE US the data upon which that decision was made.

It was only after receiving external pressure that the CDC said (through back channels) that they’d eventually release this information. That’s not good enough. I’m calling on leadership at the CDC to release this unpublished data immediately.
