To help promote safety and security, I’ve signed on as a co-sponsor to two excellent bills in the House.
The first piece of legislation will put a hold on federal funding to local governments that allow these so-called “autonomous zones” within their jurisdictions. (This is H.R. 7285.) Seattle is a prime example of this nonsense. There, a six-block radius was essentially confiscated by… Read more »
Another HUGE win for religious liberties from the Supreme Court was announced earlier this morning.
In a 7-2 decision, the Court upheld that employers who had religious or moral objections to the Obamacare birth control mandate were, in fact, entitled to exemption from that rule.
This was a case involving the Little Sisters of the Poor, which is a Catholic ministry that… Read more »
Is attending Church during a pandemic more dangerous than attending a protest?
Before places of worship throughout Washington, D.C. were even allowed to partially re-open, the mayor of that city was actively encouraging people to gather and demonstrate in large crowds for protests and demonstrations.
The "right of the people peaceably to assemble" is explicitly guaranteed… Read more »
There were so many people MURDERED in Chicago this past weekend that various news outlets can’t even agree on the correct number. If the Chicago Tribune is to be believed, it’s probably around 17 homicides – including two children – plus 63 others shot, with most occurring in areas widely known for gang violence.
In New York City, shootings are up 142% for the week ending July 5th versus… Read more »
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court delivered two decisions that were very important. I believe one was outstanding, while another was terrible.
=== GOOD NEWS FIRST ===
There was a BIG win yesterday for religious schools, and those who value religious liberties and our First Amendment.
Back in 2015, Montana established a program that provided a tax credit for those… Read more »
Incredibly, calls to “defund the police” are actually gaining traction in dozens of cities with far-left local governments.
For example, the Minneapolis City Council voted to eliminate their police department, but still hasn’t identified how citizens will be kept safe. New York City is taking steps to cut over $1 billion from its police, with similar efforts now underway in cities… Read more »
To me, this is the LAST thing Congress should be focused on right now. I’m talking about legislation that would turn Washington, D.C. into our nation’s 51st state.
House Democrat Leadership has scheduled a vote on just such a measure today. I’ll be a hard NO vote, but by the time you read this, the liberal majority will have passed the bill in the House, even though it’s highly unlikely… Read more »
In two sentences, here’s what happened yesterday: (1) Sen. Tim Scott had a strong bill to improve relationships and transparency between law enforcement and those they serve. (2) Liberals in the Senate torpedoed it, ending any chance of meaningful reform for the foreseeable future.
There are over 600,000 people in our congressional district, and I’m now on a mission to make sure they all… Read more »
You just need to listen to this short video to understand the frustration of Republicans right now in Congress. This is Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), who has worked tirelessly on a new bill in the Senate called the Justice Act, which will help improve relationships and transparency between law enforcement and those they serve.
Earlier today, Democrats BLOCKED debate on this bill. They didn't… Read more »
Get this: there are actually protesters in D.C. vowing to tear down the Emancipation Statue of Abraham Lincoln. Yes, the same Abraham Lincoln who signed the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves 157 years ago. In fact, former slaves helped raise funds to create this monument. And Frederick Douglass, who escaped slavery and led national efforts to abolish it, helped dedicate the statue… Read more »
